Two weeks from today
Fourteen days is exactly two weeks, so the answer always falls on today's weekday. It's also exactly 10 business days when there's no public holiday in between, which is why "two weeks" and "10 working days" are often used as if they were the same thing.
Where 14 days comes from
- Online purchases in the EU and UK. Under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, and the UK's Consumer Contracts Regulations, you can usually cancel an online or phone order within 14 days without giving a reason. For goods, the period runs from the day you receive them.
- Two weeks' notice. In the US it's a professional courtesy rather than a federal law, since most jobs are at-will. Your contract or employee handbook may ask for more.
- Biweekly pay. A paycheck every 14 days gives 26 a year in most years and 27 in some.
- Store return windows, often 14 days from purchase or delivery.
Worked example: a parcel delivered June 7, 2027
A parcel ordered from an EU shop arrives on Monday, June 7, 2027. Counting 14 days from the next day, the cancellation period ends on Monday, June 21, 2027. The European Commission's guidance says weekends and public holidays count toward the 14 days, but if the last day falls on one, the period runs to the next working day.
Now count 10 business days from the same Monday with the US federal calendar. Juneteenth (June 19) falls on a Saturday in 2027, so federal workers get Friday, June 18 off, and the count skips it. Ten business days ends on Tuesday, June 22, a day after the two calendar weeks.

Frequently asked questions
Is 14 days the same as two weeks?
Yes, exactly. 14 days from today is the same weekday as today, two weeks later.
Is 14 days the same as 10 business days?
When no public holiday falls in those two weeks, yes. A holiday makes 10 business days one calendar day longer, as Juneteenth does in June 2027.
When does the 14-day cooling-off period start in the EU and UK?
For goods bought online or by phone, the 14 days usually start the day after you receive them. For services, they start the day after the contract is made. Some items, such as perishable or personalized goods, are excluded.
Is two weeks' notice required by law in the US?
No federal law requires it, and most US jobs are at-will. It is a common professional courtesy. Your contract, handbook or a union agreement may ask for a set notice period, so check those.
How many biweekly paychecks are there in a year?
Usually 26. Because 26 two-week periods are 364 days, some years have 27 paydays, roughly once every 11 years depending on the payday.
